This Privacy Policy describes how Marukai Corporation dba Tokyo Central ("Tokyo Central," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and discloses Personal Information when you register for, use, or interact with the Miracle Splash Card loyalty program. The Miracle Splash Card is an in-store membership program — all discounts and promotional benefits apply exclusively to in-store purchases at participating Tokyo Central and Marukai locations.

2What Personal Information We Collect

"Personal Information" means information that identifies, relates to, or could reasonably be linked with an identifiable individual.

A. Registration Information

  • Purpose: To create and manage your Miracle Splash Card membership.
  • Source: Collected from you during registration.
  • Examples: First name, last name, email address, phone number, birth date (month/day/year), zip code, preferred store location.

B. Card & Account Data

  • Purpose: To operate the Program, deliver your digital card, and apply campaign discounts at in-store checkout.
  • Examples: Membership barcode number, account activation status, registration date, in-store purchase history associated with your card.

C. Email Verification / OTP Data

  • Purpose: To verify your identity when accessing your card online.
  • Source: Generated automatically when you request card access.
  • Examples: One-time verification codes, email address, timestamps.
  • Retention: OTP codes expire after 2 minutes and are deleted immediately after verification or expiration.

D. Device Information

  • Purpose: To operate the website and perform analytics.
  • Source: Collected automatically via cookies and similar technologies.
  • Examples: Browser version, IP address, time zone, pages viewed.

3How We Use Personal Information

  • Operate the Miracle Splash Card Program and deliver member benefits at in-store checkout;
  • Send transactional emails (activation, OTP verification, card delivery);
  • Send promotional emails about campaigns and exclusive in-store offers to active members;
  • Generate and deliver digital membership cards with unique barcodes;
  • Verify member identity via email one-time passwords;
  • Record in-store purchase information to better understand customer needs and provide relevant offers;
  • Improve and optimize the website and Program performance.
In-Store Program Only. The Miracle Splash Card is valid for in-store purchases only at participating Tokyo Central and Marukai locations. Card discounts and promotional benefits are not applicable to online purchases.

4Sharing Personal Information

We do not sell any personal identifying information to non-affiliated companies, manufacturers, or direct marketers.

We share Personal Information with the following service providers solely to operate the Program:

  • Mandrill by Mailchimp (Intuit) — transactional and marketing email delivery;
  • Shopify — e-commerce platform (for online store purchases);
  • Internal systems for Program management and campaign operations.

5Data Retention

  • Membership data: Retained while your account is active, plus 1 year after termination or withdrawal.
  • OTP verification data: Deleted immediately after verification or expiration (2 minutes).
  • Transactional email logs: Retained for up to 1 year.
  • Marketing preferences: Retained until you change your preference or request deletion.

6Notice of Financial Incentive (California)

The Miracle Splash Card program may be considered a "financial incentive" under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA) because we collect Personal Information from members in exchange for providing campaign-based in-store discounts.

  • How to opt in: By registering at smartsavercard.tokyocentral.com or in-store.
  • How to withdraw: Contact info@marukai.com to deactivate your membership. No penalty for withdrawing.
  • Value estimate: The value of the Personal Information collected is reasonably related to the value of the in-store discounts and benefits offered through the Program.

7Your Privacy Rights (California — CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you may have the following rights:

  • Right to Know/Access: Request the categories and specific pieces of Personal Information we collected.
  • Right to Delete: Request deletion of Personal Information we collected from you.
  • Right to Correct: Request correction of inaccurate Personal Information.
  • Right to Opt Out of Sale/Sharing: We do not sell your Personal Information.
  • Right to Non-Discrimination: You will not receive discriminatory treatment for exercising your rights.

8Email Communications

Transactional Emails

Activation, OTP, and card delivery emails are service communications and are not subject to opt-out while your account is active.

Marketing Emails

Campaign offers and promotions may be opted out of at any time via the "Unsubscribe" link in any email or by contacting us. We honor opt-out requests within 10 business days. Opting out does not affect your in-store membership benefits.

9Children's Privacy

The Program is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect Personal Information from children under 13. If you believe a child has registered, please contact us so we can remove the account.

10Security

We maintain reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect Personal Information. We use email-based OTP verification to protect member accounts from unauthorized access. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

11Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. We will post the updated policy and revise the "Last Updated" date. Continued participation in the Program after changes constitutes acceptance.
